Overview

About The Role

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Experimentation Platform team, where you’ll help shape the systems that drive data-informed product decisions. You’ll design, build, and evolve our internal A/B testing and metrics platforms, working closely with data scientists and engineers to ship user-facing capabilities, enable new experimentation methodologies, and develop tooling that empowers teams across the company to move faster and make better decisions.

About The Team

The Experimentation platform team powers decision-making across Instacart’s four-sided marketplace. Our team owns the experiment lifecycle, creating systems that automate workflows, surface insights, and scale across diverse domains. This is foundational infrastructure that helps teams move faster with trust in their results.

About The Job

You will be part of a small team, with a large amount of ownership and surface area given that the tooling is used by the entire company.

You will work closely with other teams to understand their main pain points around experimentation and translate them into user-friendly and reliable solutions.

You will have the freedom to suggest and drive new initiatives.

You are expected to mentor other team members and be a champion of engineering excellence.

Minimum Qualifications

Strong sense of ownership, with the ability to independently drive work from problem definition to delivery, and a willingness to learn and adopt emerging, AI-first technologies.

Solid experience with common data infrastructure technologies—such as Python, Airflow, Snowflake, and dbt—in a production environment.

Experience contributing to a large, shared codebase and collaborating effectively with cross-functional partners, including data scientists, product managers, and engineers.

Strong proficiency in SQL, with experience writing, debugging, and optimizing queries for analytical and production use cases.

Strong knowledge of React and experience building and maintaining user-facing web applications.

6+ years of professional experience in a similar engineering role or technical environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field (Computer Science, Electrical Engineering) or equivalent practical experience.

A background in statistics or hands-on experience with A/B testing is a plus.
