We are seeking a highly technical Staff Engineer, specializing in trading systems, to support our Engineering efforts in Singapore. This team will primarily focus on the IntX product and collaborate with the US Trading team to define and deliver Coinbase's next-generation trading system for IntX. The role involves leading multi-quarter, cross-organizational initiatives, mentoring engineers, and delivering high-quality trading products that address both local and global customer requirements.

What You’ll Be Doing

Drive the technical vision and execution of complex, multi-quarter projects across multiple engineering teams.

Lead the design and development of mission-critical trading systems, including order management, execution engines, and reliability infrastructure.

Partner with PM, Design, and other functions to align product strategy with long-term technical bets and roadmap.

Deeply understand and influence our trading stack and product roadmap, identifying strategic technical initiatives.

Mentor and coach engineers across various levels, fostering growth and developing the next generation of trading and infrastructure leaders.

Elevate engineering quality and promote best practices through design review, code review guidance, and process improvements.

What We Look For In You

8+ years of software engineering experience, with a strong track record of shipping large-scale distributed systems, including significant leadership roles.

Deep expertise in trading systems (traditional or crypto), with hands-on experience and strategic oversight in areas like order management, execution algorithms, market data, or risk management.

You are customer-obsessed and bring strong product intuition to technical decision-making and strategic planning.

Proven ability to lead and drive complex initiatives across organizational boundaries, influencing stakeholders and achieving consensus.

Strong mentoring skills with a passion for leveling up teammates and building high-performing teams.

Comfortable working in ambiguous environments with high stakes and high velocity, providing clear direction and stability.

High bar for quality, correctness, and operational excellence, instilling these values within the team.

Nice To Haves

You’ve been part of a company that builds complicated trading systems.

Prior experience in financial markets, especially equities, FX, or crypto.

Familiarity with regulated environments and designing for compliance and auditability.

Experience Working With Go Or Other Performant Backend Languages.

Contributions to open source or trading protocols.
