Staff Software Engineer - KV Platform

The Opportunity

In KV Platform, we build foundational, managed distributed key-value datastores which scale with Datadog’s diverse customer base. Our work powers Datadog’s core products, fast growing set of features, and critical internal platforms.

We’re looking for a product-minded platform engineer who's passionate about building world class distributed storage that scales efficiently while maintaining millisecond performance and enables Datadog to ship products at scale faster.

What You’ll Do

Scale and build the next phase of our datastores that are growing 20% QoQ internally.

Drive the technical direction for systems that process 10s of millions of RPS and stateful systems that manage 100s GB/s

Work with our internal users to quickly build features and distributed systems which allow them to access their key-value data

Design Machine Learning enabled migration solutions that store data in the best storage backend transparently based on client usage.

Who You Are

You ship fast, communicate efficiently, route around blockers, and are comfortable working with ambiguity.

You’re passionate about data storage, experienced with high-scale data modeling and API design.

You love talking with users and quickly prototyping new solutions to their problems.

You know the tradeoffs to make to deliver a project quickly without compromising reliability.

You’re happy to jump in and do whatever’s needed to move a project forward.

You’ve built distributed systems at scale but maybe not Databases before.

You’re excited about leveraging AI tools to enhance how you code, solve problems, and build – or eager to learn how
