Reddit’s Communications team shapes our narrative within the company and around the world. We work across corporate, policy and safety, consumer, product, social, and trade communications to keep employees and external audiences informed and engaged. We’re hiring a Social Media Manager to scale our organic social program and amplify Reddit’s voice to current and potential users.

You will serve as Reddit’s day-to-day voice and act as the primary operator for our flagship @Reddit handles across TikTok, Instagram, X, Threads, and LinkedIn. You’ll report to our Exec & Digital Comms Lead and serve as a thought partner in shaping our overarching social media strategy.

In this position, you’ll have a pulse on the most important and interesting trends across Reddit and other platforms, and translate these moments into highly shareable social media content for our brand. You’ll mine for interesting moments across Reddit, create content seen by millions worldwide, and engage directly with our followers. You’ll take calculated risks and treat social content as a product, continuously experimenting, measuring, and learning. Some flexibility during off-hours for real-time cultural moments is expected.

An ideal candidate is a seasoned, editorial-minded, social media and online community manager who is an Internet culture connoisseur. You have a deep understanding of the nuances between social media platforms and a sixth sense of what our followers on each channel want to see and care about. In addition to these traits, you have excellent communication skills, a great sense of humor, and think about content from both a strategic and creative perspective.

Responsibilities

Build on Reddit’s organic social media strategy aligned with current business objectives.

Manage and develop our social media editorial calendar, working closely with cross-functional teams on upcoming programs we can support.

Directly create content for our channels and partner with our Creative team on more advanced content ideas.

Ensure our content strategy meets our ambitious growth goals without compromising creative integrity.

Keep your finger on the pulse of key events across the news and other social platforms, make real-time recommendations for our social media channels based on trending topics.

Mine Reddit for amazing moments that should be shared with our off-platform followers and generate supporting content that complements our strategy.

Monitor mentions of Reddit across our social media channels, identify overarching trends or issues, and escalate to relevant internal teams.

Manage our growing social media communities, ensuring we are fostering quality engagement and positive relations with our followers.

Measure, analyze, and improve content performance on a range of metrics to ensure we’re building best-in-class content experiences that perform well and delight our followers.

Proactively search for (and develop) unique opportunities for creative, Reddit-y engagements across our social media channels.

Partner with internal teams, including Consumer Marketing, Product Marketing, Experience, and Community, to provide strategic social media guidance and support for relevant programs and campaigns.

Advise our international social media teams on strategy, processes, and best practices.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or related field

Proven experience managing social media accounts and editorial best practices for household brand names

7+ years of related work experience (social media, community management, editorial content)

Business-oriented with the ability to understand marketing data

A sharp editorial instinct and the ability to capture Reddit’s tone in short-form content

Precise, typo-free, and creative communication skills, both in person and in writing

Comfort with basic image editing and graphic design (Canva experience a plus)

You are passionate about great storytelling, sophisticated business analysis, and are a stickler for top-tier editorial standards and quality prose

You are intellectually curious and display excellent taste and judgment

Familiarity with and enthusiasm for Reddit’s never-ending rabbit hole of communities

This job posting may span more than one career level.

In addition to base salary, this job is eligible to receive equity in the form of restricted stock units, and depending on the position offered, it may also be eligible to receive a commission. We set standard base pay ranges for all roles based on function, level, and country location, benchmarked against similar stage growth companies. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including, skills, depth of work experience and relevant licenses/credentials, and may vary from the amounts listed below.
