Senior Software Engineer – REDAPL (Lisbon)

At Datadog, we’re building the monitoring and security platform for the cloud age—used by developers, IT teams, and business stakeholders to understand and optimize their infrastructure. We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help advance REDAPL, our Referential Data Platform that tracks and contextualizes our customers’ infrastructure resources and their relationships.

About Redapl

REDAPL powers multiple customer-facing products such as Cloud Security Posture Management, Cloud Cost Management, Resource Catalog, and more. It handles large-scale data ingestion and querying, providing vital insights into infrastructure performance, cost, and security. With platform usage rapidly expanding, this role offers the opportunity to help scale the system to meet growing demands across Datadog.

What You’ll Do

Contribute to the design, implementation, and operation of reliable and scalable distributed systems within REDAPL.

Build and evolve ingestion, processing, and query systems that handle high volumes of structured infrastructure data.

Collaborate with engineers across teams to support integration of new products and internal consumers of the platform.

Identify and help address bottlenecks in performance, reliability, and usability of the platform.

Participate in architectural discussions, technical planning, and code reviews within your team.

Provide mentorship to junior engineers and contribute to building a high-performing, inclusive team culture.

Participate in our on-call rotation, ensuring the resilience and availability of platform components.

Who You Are

You have experience building and operating backend systems at scale, particularly in distributed systems or data infrastructure.

You are comfortable working with backend languages (such as Go, Java, or Python) and have solid systems programming fundamentals.

You have strong experience optimizing system performance, resilience, and cost-efficiency.

You’ve contributed to the success of complex technical projects and are eager to take ownership in a collaborative environment.

You enjoy mentoring teammates, learning continuously, and improving team practices and code quality.

You are comfortable navigating trade-offs in performance, simplicity, and technical debt, and can articulate your decisions.

You’re excited about leveraging AI tools to enhance how you code, solve problems, and build – or eager to learn how.
