Senior Software Engineer - Query Connectors (Lisbon)

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer who brings strong backend and distributed systems experience to join our Cross-Product Query (XPQ) organization. As part of the Query Connectors team, you'll help build and maintain critical data connectivity infrastructure while constantly exploring and adapting to new technologies and data platforms.

This role combines deep backend expertise with a passion for learning new technologies. While experience with databases and query systems is valuable, we're primarily looking for engineers who have built robust distributed systems and are excited about expanding their technical breadth.

What You’ll Do

Design and implement distributed systems that enable seamless data connectivity across Datadog's ecosystem

Lead technical discovery processes with product teams to understand their data access requirements

Build and optimize backend services that power our data connectivity infrastructure

Explore and evaluate new technologies to enhance our connector capabilities

Collaborate extensively with teams across Datadog to ensure connectors meet their specific needs

Drive the adoption of new technologies and best practices within the team

Opportunity to contribute to open-source projects and broader industry initiatives, making a meaningful difference beyond our platform.

Who You Are

You have 5+ years of relevant industry experience

Strong background in building and maintaining backend distributed systems

Experience With High-throughput, Reliable Service Design And Implementation

Quick learner who enjoys exploring and adopting new technologies

Excellent problem-solving skills with complex distributed systems

Background in databases or query systems is a plus, but not required

Strong proficiency in at least one of our core languages: Java, Go, or Rust

You’re excited about leveraging AI tools to enhance how you code, solve problems, and build – or eager to learn how
