The Provider Pay and Incentives team, within the Care Foundations group, is responsible for creating a scalable, automated, and transparent system for paying our large network of Care Providers. As a member of this team, you will be instrumental in reducing manual work for our operational and engineering teams, enhance provider satisfaction and trust, and enable Spring Health to support a growing, global network with efficiency and precision.

Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager - Care, this

Senior Software Engineer II

will be a full-time role critical to guiding the team.  You will be a technical leader involved in shaping strategic architecture decisions, a champion of technical initiatives, and a mentor to the junior engineers. You will work closely with our Product and Engineering leadership to execute on deliverables, as a part of a collaborative team creating the products that transform mental healthcare for the better.

Please note that this is a

hybrid role based in New York City

, with an expectation to be in office 2-3 days a week. Our office is located at 60 Madison Avenue.

What You’ll Do

Design and build scalable backend and full-stack services using Ruby on Rails and React

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ship high-impact features that improve the member and caregiver experience

Expand and maintain existing web applications and infrastructure

Debug and resolve issues quickly and efficiently

Provide technical leadership in architectural discussions, code reviews, and system planning

Uphold high engineering standards, including test coverage, documentation, and performance

Participate in an on-call rotation to support system reliability and respond to production issues

Collaborate flexibly across time zones, as needed, to support distributed teams and stakeholders

Mentor and guide engineers, fostering growth and best practices

Proactively improve team velocity, tooling, and engineering process

Drive integration of observability, performance monitoring, and resiliency features

Represent the team in org-wide technical and architectural discussions

What Success Looks Like

Deliver high-impact, high-quality projects on time and with stakeholder satisfaction

Maintain high system reliability and quality through strong testing and scalable design

Drive cross-functional collaboration with product, design, data, or other teams, to align on goals and delivery

Lead by example through strong individual contributions and peer mentorship

Deliver measurable improvements in engineering velocity, scalability, or developer experience

Identify cross-team opportunities and contribute to organizational-level improvement

What You’ll Bring

6–8+ years of experience in software development with a focus on backend development

Expertise in at least one of the following languages: Ruby on Rails, Java, C#, Python, or equivalent

Proven experience leading delivery of complex technical projects or 0–1 product development

Strong cross-functional collaboration and mentorship abilities

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Familiarity with observability and experimentation tools, such as Datadog, LaunchDarkly, Sentry, Mixpanel, Iterable

Experience Architecting Complex Systems Or Microservices

Fluency in SQL and modern data tooling (e.g., DBT, Snowflake)

Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and unblock other engineers

Bonus: Experience with AI tooling and developing integrations

The target base salary range for this position is

$179,000 - $218,550

and is part of a competitive total rewards package including stock options and benefits. Individual pay may vary from the target range and is determined by a number of factors including experience, location, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations. at minimum to ensure competitive and fair pay.
