Overview

Join the forefront of in-store retail innovation as the Senior Product Manager for Basket Intelligence at Caper. In this role, you will be responsible for architecting a seamless, intuitive, and frictionless shopping experience powered by advanced AI and sensor fusion.

This is a key member of our Basket Intelligence pillar, where your vision will directly translate into the technology roadmap for Caper's AI-powered smart carts. You will lead the strategy to achieve 100% accurate, real-time understanding of basket contents with minimal user or retailer intervention.

This role is for a product leader who is excited by the challenge of bridging cutting-edge AI (Computer Vision, VLMs) with real-world physical hardware to create a magical shopping experience. You won't just be managing features; you'll be defining the core intelligence that drives our entire product.

Caper

is revolutionizing retail with our smart shopping carts powered by deep learning and cutting-edge computer vision. Caper’s unique technology is a plug- and-play solution that does not require retail store renovation or operational overhaul – retailers simply purchase smart shopping carts and the entire store is upgraded with cashierless capabilities.

Caper is one of the fastest-growing retail automation technology products in the market and is already widely adopted in the marketplace.  Our cross-functional and durable Product team solves hard user & business problems in ways that our users love.

About The Job

Set and execute the holistic vision for a frictionless shopping experience. Identify, plan, and prioritize high-impact initiatives that dramatically increase smart cart utilization and user retention.

Drive AI-First Innovation. Own the technical roadmap for advanced sensor fusion and intelligence systems. Plan and develop the technology pipeline to fuse diverse cart sensor signals and contextual data (including computer vision, VLM, weight, cart location signals) to build robust, accurate AI models and integrated systems.

Implement appropriate evaluation frameworks to continuously iterate and improve our computer vision and VLM models.

Lead the entire product lifecycle, from deep user and retailer discovery to final delivery. Use qualitative and quantitative research, retailer feedback, and industry best practices to identify new opportunities. Intake, validate, and convert new ideas into implementable projects with clear success metrics, and PRDs/specifications.

Champion best-in-class design and user experiences. Evaluate and solve complex user, retailer and operational challenges, translating them to cohesive and intuitive experiences.

Spend time in our labs and partner stores to test features, observe user behaviors, and iterate quickly; support pilots and launches as needed.
