About This Role

At Lyft, our purpose is to serve and connect. We aim to achieve this by cultivating a work environment where all team members belong and have the opportunity to thrive.

The Engagement Marketing Operations team at Lyft controls a majority of the communication with our active 30MM riders and 1.4MM drivers. As a senior operations leader on this team, you will serve as the bridge between marketing and engineering, driving end-to-end campaign execution, shaping platform strategy, and building the systems that power personalized communication at scale. This role sits at the forefront of how Lyft communicates with its customers, piloting AI-driven personalization, influencing the communication product roadmap, and helping define how Lyft connects with millions of riders and drivers across new channels and global markets.

Responsibilities

Campaign Execution & Communications Development

Drive end-to-end execution of owned channel communications, creating dynamic and engaging experiences across email, SMS, push, and in-app using Lyft’s internal communications platform.

Demonstrate working proficiency in HTML/CSS for email, including the ability to architect dynamic templates and debug complex markup; a foundational understanding is required at minimum.

Execute campaigns with emphasis on audience segmentation. Develop/modify owned communications templates; set up, QA, and launch complex marketing campaigns with dynamic content.

AI Tools, Automations, Strategy & Adoption

Actively apply AI tools and workflows to improve campaign execution, team efficiency, and personalization at scale, serving as a resource for the team in adopting and implementing AI-driven approaches.

Bring a forward-thinking, agentic AI mindset by identifying opportunities to automate recurring workflows, building reusable prompt systems and agent workflows, and growing the team’s AI fluency beyond awareness into day-to-day practice.

Platform Expertise & Tooling Influence

Bring expertise from enterprise-grade ESPs such as Braze, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, or Iterable to help identify platform gaps and shape internal tooling capabilities.

Partner with the communications platform engineering team to surface actionable feedback from day-to-day campaign execution, helping shape platform tooling and capabilities that serve the broader marketing organization.

Stakeholder Strategy & Channel Expertise

Work with marketing stakeholders to understand campaign requirements, leveraging your expert knowledge to provide input on channel strategy, audience segmentation, and experimentation best practices.

Compliance & Global Readiness

Maintain working knowledge of global communication compliance regulations (including CAN-SPAM, GDPR, and CASL), understanding their implications across channels and regions as Lyft expands internationally.

Mentorship & Team Development

Serve as a technical resource and growth partner for junior team members — sharing expertise on campaign best practices, platform tooling, and implementation patterns.

Cross-Functional Partnership

Drive cross-functional alignment by developing strong relationships with engineering, data science, and marketing partners, ensuring cohesive execution of key initiatives.

Process Improvement & Operational Scale

Proactively identify and lead process improvement efforts, driving efficiency gains with clear stakeholder buy-in.

Experience

5-7 years of digital marketing experience required, minimum 3 years in communications development and campaign formation; or equivalent demonstrated scope and impact.

Familiarity with how email and communications are built at a systems level, with confidence navigating AI-generated code, dynamic templates, and automated pipelines.

Strong working knowledge of AI tools and their application in marketing operations, with proven ability to implement AI-driven solutions and navigate complex internal systems and tooling environments.

Understand audience segmentation and targeting. Proficiency in SQL required (e.g., WITH and JOIN functions).

Demonstrated experience in prioritization, with a firm grasp of technical concepts to make trade-offs when making engineering requests.

Knowledge of basic experimentation principles.

Strong verbal and written communications, stakeholder management and project management skills.

A blend of technical, creative and analytical skills with experience working with engineering, design, and data science.
