As a Senior Analyst on the Payments Optimization team, you will prioritize and spearhead initiatives that will refine and optimize transaction processing workflows for Toast Payments. You will collaborate on initiatives with other Toast teams across Product, Engineering, and Operations. This role will lead to significant business impact.

A day in the life (Responsibilities)

Architect Real-time Monitoring

Design, build, and maintain automated dashboards that provide near real-time visibility into payment health and processing efficiency.

Performance Deep-dives

Use advanced SQL to identify micro-trends in payment success rates, interchange costs, and processor latency.

Operational Excellence

Develop and deploy sophisticated alerting frameworks to catch processing anomalies before they impact our merchants.

Cross-functional Engineering

Partner directly with Data Engineering and BI to optimize data schemas and ensure "source of truth" reliability for all payment metrics.

Strategic Ideation

Move beyond reporting; use data to propose architectural changes to our payment routing and processing logic.

What you'll need to thrive (Requirements)

Expert Sql Proficiency

You are an absolute pro at writing complex, performant queries (CTEs, Window Functions, Optimization) against massive, messy datasets.

Data Visualization Mastery

Proven track record of building high-impact dashboards in tools like Tableau, Looker, or Sigma. You know how to tell a story with data, not just dump charts on a page.

3+ Years Of Analytics Experience

Specifically in roles where you were responsible for data modeling and technical insights.

Technical Rigor

Extreme attention to detail. In payments, a 0.01% variance is a big deal and you’re the person who finds out why.

Payment Background

Prior experience navigating the complexities of payment gateways, processors, or card networks.
