Overview

As the Integration & Automation Tech Lead, you will define the strategy, architecture, and delivery for Instacart's enterprise integration and automation landscape across the Finance and Accounting ecosystem. This role blends strategic ownership with hands-on technical leadership — ensuring our platforms are scalable, secure, audit-ready, and intelligent enough to evolve with the business.

You will architect modern, platform-agnostic integrations across ERPs, banking and payment systems, procurement, CRM, and data platforms — leveraging iPaaS, APIs, webhooks, and AI to eliminate manual work and accelerate financial transformation. You'll modernize release and automation practices through CI/CD, and partner with stakeholders across Finance, Accounting, Engineering, and Product to ensure technology is a strategic enabler of insight, compliance, and growth.

The Finance Systems and Solutions (FINSS) team owns the end-to-end lifecycle, governance, and evolution of technology systems that enables Finance across Instacart. We align deeply with Finance leadership to ensure that systems serve not just as tools, but as strategic enablers of insight, control, and growth.

About The Job

Strategy, Roadmap & Architecture

Define and evolve the integration and automation strategy and roadmap across Finance and Accounting systems, with a platform-agnostic, best-fit-for-purpose approach.

Architect solutions for end-to-end integrations across ERPs (Oracle/NetSuite/Workday), CRM (Salesforce), procurement (Zip/Coupa), HRIS, banking/payment processors, and data platforms (Snowflake/Databricks/Redshift).

Translate complex technical landscapes into clear priorities and milestones that resonate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Champion modern integration patterns — iPaaS, event-driven architectures, REST/SOAP APIs, webhooks, and streaming — and select the right tool for each use case.

Solution Delivery & Technical Leadership

Deliver robust, scalable integration solutions across modern iPaaS platforms (Boomi, Workato, MuleSoft, or equivalents) and Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC), as well as custom API and database integrations.

Design and implement secure bank-to-ERP integrations with encryption (PGP, SFTP, tokenization) and payment processor integrations that meet financial controls and audit requirements.

Establish CI/CD pipelines, version control, and automated release frameworks across integration platforms to improve reliability, traceability, and deployment velocity.

Embed AI and intelligent automation capabilities into integration workflows — leveraging LLMs, agents, and ML services to streamline reconciliation, anomaly detection, and exception handling.

Mentor junior BSAs and integration analyst, raising technical standards and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Stakeholder Partnership

Collaborate with Finance, Accounting, Engineering, IT, and Product to align technology initiatives with business outcomes.

Influence roadmap priorities through measurable outcomes (e.g., release velocity, integration stability, system uptime).

Serve as a trusted advisor to Finance and Accounting leadership on integration and automation opportunities.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement

Monitor Oracle feature releases and evaluate emerging technologies, including automation and AI, for financial system use cases.

Promote organizational learning through enablement sessions, technical deep-dives, and knowledge-sharing forums.

Security & Compliance

Partner with Security, IT, and Audit to ensure integrations adhere to least-privilege access, data encryption, SoX controls, and compliance requirements.

Advocate for observability, logging, monitoring, and infrastructure practices that ensure integrations are resilient, traceable, and audit-ready.

This role is ideal for a hands-on integration architect who thrives outside the boundaries of any single vendor ecosystem — someone who is equally comfortable building on iPaaS, writing API integrations from scratch, working with data platforms, and applying AI to solve real business problems.

About You

Minimum Qualifications

10+ years of experience in integration development, enterprise architecture, and/or financial systems, with deep cross-platform expertise.

Hands-on experience with at least one modern iPaaS — Boomi, Workato, MuleSoft, or equivalent — including production-grade orchestration, error handling, and monitoring.

Strong working knowledge of complex API integrations (REST, SOAP, GraphQL), authentication patterns (OAuth, JWT, API keys, mTLS), webhooks, and event-driven architectures.

Proven experience with modern ERPs (Oracle Cloud, NetSuite, Workday) and integrations to boundary systems such as Salesforce, Workday HCM, Zip/Coupa (procurement), and billing platforms.

Hands-on experience integrating with banking systems (host-to-host, SWIFT, BAI2, ISO 20022) and payment processors, including encryption and secure file transfer protocols.

Working knowledge with database and data platform integrations — Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift, or equivalent — including bulk data movement, CDC, and reverse ETL patterns.

Hands-on expertise with CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), and release automation in an integration context.

Proven track record as a technical lead or architect for enterprise integration programs.

Ability to identify risks, propose strategic initiatives, and communicate effectively with non-technical stakeholders.

Experience Mentoring Junior Engineers Or Bsas, Fostering Technical Growth Across Teams.

Preferred Qualifications

Hands-on experience applying AI and LLMs to integration and automation use cases (e.g., agent-based workflows, intelligent document processing, anomaly detection).

Experience With Oracle Integration Cloud (oic) And Oci Administration (compartments, Iam, Compute, Databases).

Experience modernizing legacy financial system architectures and migrating from point-to-point integrations to event-driven or iPaaS-based models.

Familiarity with DevSecOps practices, observability frameworks and compliance-driven architectures (SOX, SOC 2).

Experience In A High-growth, Fast-paced Environment Where Requirements Evolve Rapidly.
