About This Role
At Lyft, our purpose is to serve and connect. We aim to achieve this by cultivating a work environment where all team members belong and have the opportunity to thrive.
Lyft connects people to transportation to change the way we live and get around our communities. We are looking for product managers who bring exceptional creative, strategic, and analytical skills to drive forward a best in class product. Product management at Lyft leads the integration of engineering, data science, and design to achieve the company's vision for reinventing transportation. We are looking for entrepreneurial and passionate Product Managers to innovate and execute across a rapidly growing, fast paced company and industry.
Pricing is the primary economic engine of Lyft's marketplace — a high-precision, real-time system that processes millions of fare calculations per hour, balancing rider affordability, driver earnings, and Lyft's sustainable growth. The Pricing team sits at the intersection of the marketplace, mediating between rider demand and driver supply, and is a core pillar of the Rider Organization.
As the Group Product Manager for Pricing, you will lead a team of product managers across four sub-teams that together own the full pricing lifecycle:
Planned Pricing
— the foundation of every fare. This team owns the structural pricing strategy that determines base prices across ride types and regions, balancing long-term financial targets with real-time market conditions.
Dynamic Pricing & Offer Selection
— the real-time pulse of the marketplace. This team owns the algorithms that respond to supply and demand shifts (Prime Time) and perform a real-time portfolio optimization to ensure riders can always get a ride and the marketplace stays balanced.
Rider Engagement
— the growth engine. This team builds personalized offers to drive rider engagement and retention, increase share of mind, and maximize the ROI of Lyft's rider incentive spend.
Price Orchestration
— the pricing platform. This team owns the end-to-end infrastructure that coordinates every fare request, from upfront quote generation through invoicing, tax calculation, and ratecard management, ensuring reliability, low latency, and compliance at scale.
Together, your organization will drive Pricing's top strategic priorities: unified portfolio optimization across all ride types and offers, preparing the pricing platform for autonomous vehicles and new offerings, advancing real-time personalized offers through applied AI, and increasing pricing precision to reduce waste while hitting growth targets.
Responsibilities
Manage and grow a team of product managers, providing development, mentorship, and coaching to help them achieve their goals and Lyft's goals
Be the product leader driving the strategic product and technology vision for Pricing — owning the system that directly impacts Gross Bookings, Active Riders, and Adjusted EBITDA Margin
Set and align on business goals for pricing optimization with executives and business teams (e.g., what are we optimizing for and how does this vary by market, product, use case)
Incorporate end-to-end impact of pricing decisions on riders, drivers, and ultimately on network growth
Define short-term and long-term strategy to achieve those goals, setting your team's success metrics and roadmap to drive maximum impact
Develop and execute a product roadmap via close collaboration with senior leadership, Finance, Data Science, Analytics, Design, Marketing, Engineering, Legal, and Policy
Review how product managers reporting to you translate customer and internal user needs into clear, well-defined functional and technical requirements backed by data analysis and deep understanding of the marketplace
Guide and interface closely with data science, analysts, and engineers to review and refine scope and technical capabilities, prioritize projects for release, and define new opportunities
Be an inspiring communicator for the team's ambitions with a leadership presence in team all-hands, reviews with partner teams, and reviews with Lyft's executive team
Experience
8+ years of product management or relevant experience, with significant time spent on algorithmic, data-driven, or marketplace products
2+ years of experience managing product managers
A deep technical understanding of microeconomics, and ideally a background in Operations Research, Machine Learning, or algorithmic systems
Demonstrated experience managing and growing a high performing team of product managers while providing development, mentorship, and excitement to exceed team and department goals
Experience working in deep product domains — using data and experimentation to guide a large cross-functional team towards a long-term vision
Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills across a diverse group of stakeholders, from partner teams to executive levels
Ability to dive deep into complex technical concepts, but also abstract them to executives, stakeholders, operations, and legal
Maintain a strong POV on what to build for users, amidst many different stakeholders with different goals and world-class scientists + engineers on the team with their own opinions
Experience running A/B tests and using common statistical techniques to evaluate results, including developing post-launch testing strategies
Passion for Lyft and what we are trying to achieve in sustainable urban transportation
